The Bajan Fire Fighters’ Network was launched on January 1, 2001, and is a volunteer non-profit organisation. The organisation became locally Registered Charity No:1133 on January 7, 2015, under the Charities Act, Cap 243 Laws of Barbados. Our membership is comprised of firefighters and members of the general public.
Our goal is to promote and encourage specific community projects that will render humanitarian assistance to those in need. This is achieved by planning and executing strategic projects or by working collectively with other charitable organisations with similar objectives.
The Bajan Fire Fighters’ Network also seeks to establish partnerships with community organisations, corporate entities and government agencies. It is our goal to encourage interested persons with a desire to assist others by volunteering your time, physical resources or offering financial support to help those in need.
The specific objectives of the charity are as follows:
a) The relief of distress caused by natural disasters or sudden catastrophes;
b) The provision of social welfare services for those in need of them;
c) The establishment in life of young people;
d) The promotion and encouragement of projects for community development;
e) The provision of public work for the benefit of the community and the protection of the lives and property of the community;
f) The maintenance and improvement of the efficiency of the Fire Service; and
g) Any purpose within the spirit of, and analogous to the foregoing.
The Executive Committee conducts the day-to-day administrative functions of the charity. The charity is further supported by four Trustees whose responsibilities are to oversee the governance and operations of the charity's Executive Committee and its four Sub-Committees.
