Surrounded by family and friends, retired Toledo Fire Fighter Timothy Boaden accepted the Roosevelt Oswald King Award presented by the Bajan Fire Fighters’ Network (Registered Charity No.1133) for his outstanding humanitarian service.
Boaden a member of the local charity and a regular visitor to the island of Barbados is on vacation (his 35th trip) accompanied by his wife Judith. During a brief ceremony at Fire Service Headquarters in Bridgetown, acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer Ricardo Gittens presented Boaden with the award and thanked him for the consistent support given to the Barbados Fire Service and outstanding service demonstrated via the charity.
Tim Boaden a historian with the Toledo Fire Fighters Museum has been instrumental in providing smoke detectors and other assistance via the firefighters’ charity to the Barbados Fire Service for distribution to senior citizens and other vulnerable persons.
He is the first recipient of the R.O.K Humanitarian Award, and one of two persons honoured by the charity on Thursday last week. Boaden is also currently working with a local committee to establish a fire museum in Barbados.
