It doesn’t take much for a small grass fire to develop into a raging inferno. Every dry season, too many of these incidents occur and attended by the fire service.
While many grass fires are caused by the open burning of garbage, others are also caused by recklessly discarding cigarette butts at the side of the road. Both of these habits can easily start fires, cause great discomfort to persons with respiratory ailments and destroy property.
Time is crucial when trying to prevent a grass fire from turning into a destructive blaze, and so we urge your cooperation as the dry season continues to prevail. If you observe a fire, call the fire service immediately. Also, try not to conduct any outdoor burning during the dry period.
